Birth Photography is a fairly new concept. It may or may not be something you would want or could imagine hiring a professional photographer to do. However, take it from a mom of seven, all the details of our children's birth start to fade as we have more children and the years go on.
The day of your delivery will be a whirlwind of excitement and anticipation of the new little one that you have been waiting to meet. You and all the family will be caught up in the energy of the birth and this is where the professional comes in....we capture all the intimate details that could be missed.
Let us focus on capturing the special moments with your loved ones instead of worrying if someone snapped a photo!
When should I schedule for my birth?
As soon as possible, at this time we only take one birth per month so it is important to schedule as soon as you have your due date to be sure we are available.
Can I meet you before booking?
Absolutely! We would love to meet for coffee, get to know you, and talk in person about any questions or concerns you have. Let's do it!
What is "On-Call"?
As your due date approaches, we will be sure we are available by going on-call. Which means our phone will be on us at all times and we will not travel distant. We will be checking on you after your weekly appointments to get updates so we can be as prepared as possible. We will give you our personal & business cell numbers and you are to contact us at any time 24/7 when labor starts.
Do I need approval from my doctor/hospital?
Yes, before you schedule us you need to talk to your doctor to be 100% sure they will allow us to photograph during delivery. We will stay out of their way, and most doctors are coming around to birth photography as it's becoming more common.
What if I have/am having a c-section?
No matter how your birth takes place, we are available to tell your birth story.
What if I don't want my images shared on your website?
Some feel as though birth is a private, intimate thing and only want photos for themselves and we completely understand that. Your photos will not be shared online if you request. However, we do hope that you'll consider allowing us to share your photos for other moms considering birth photography to see and be inspired by. You can also request that specific photos not be shared.
What if I go into labor when you have another session?
All clients who are scheduled near your due date will be notified in advance that we are on call for a birth. 99.9% of the time, clients are very understanding if we let them know our client is in labor and we will reschedule.
How far will you travel for births?
We will typically travel within a 1-1.5 hour radius for births. Within the Elko County areas. The farther away from you are the more important it is to keep us updated on ANY changes as your due date approaches.
What kind of photos can I expect during delivery?
While I believe birth is a beautiful natural thing, I can assure you that we are modest birth photographers. We do not take or deliver photos that show any private parts of mom or baby. We are typically positioned on either side of you during birth to ensure no photos you would not approve of are even taken. Nursing photos are often taken but taken modestly. We can discuss this further if you have any concerns.
What if we want a quiet, personal birth with no distractions?
We can be as quiet or sociable as you want me to be. We can be a fly on the wall (other than the clicking camera sound) or we can be friends and talk throughout the day! We prefer the latter but it is your preference to have it either way! During the actual birth, we will ALWAYS be quiet and stay out of the way while shooting. If any of this is a concern, please let us know!
What if my birth takes a long time?
Then we are at the hospital for a long time. We plan to be there when you are around 4-5 cm dilated, and we do not leave until 1-1.5 hours after delivery.
What does birth photography cost?
Just like wedding photography, birth photography should be viewed as an investment and an investment that is worth every cent! We do offer payment plans.
Do you offer payment plans?
I do offer payment plans. Your total is to be paid in full by 2 weeks prior to your due date. We can discuss payment options further and find a plan that works for you!
Are all the images black & white?
Due to the sometimes graphic nature of birth photography, some of our work will be in black & white. Black & white images help you really focus on the emotion & love in the photos. We also do color photos at our discretion.
